facts and figures from a chess career

Mainz Chess Classics 2006

Posted by Stefan on September 14, 2006

In his match against Anand for the unofficial world championship title in rapid chess, Radjabov took the lead with 3-2 after winning Anand-Radjabov. The sixth game was the first to start on time and Radjabov arrived to the venue a few minutes late, making the same mistake as Polgar in an earlier match against Anand in Mainz. By then his clock had been started and he went on to lose the game, and later also the match. On the whole he played quite well and won twice against an Anand that would be undefeated in rapid chess for almost two years after these losses.
