European Championship 2004

Radjabov was undefeated in the European Championships but scored too many draws to get involved in the fight for the top places. He won two of his thirteen games and drew among others Aronian and Naiditsch.

Linares 2004

As the lowest rated player in the field an even score was a very good result for Radjabov. More than 170 Elo points behind Kasparov he finished only 0.5 behind him, and was one point from first place. Radjabov scored his two wins in the final rounds, beginning his strong finish in Vallejo-Radjabov.
